Gallery. Tablet weaving: “running dog”

Classic single version of Anatolian kivrim pattern is sometimes referred to as the “running dog”. I stumbled upon this several times over the years, and none of the woven bands with this pattern has stayed with me. Yellow-green garters belonged to my main medieval outfit and served me well for couple of years until got lost during dance classes in Tallinn Old Town.  Unfortunately, I only have one picture of them. Red-yellow garters were woven on request for SCA event.

Size: width 1,5 cm, woven length 92 cm, total length 1 m.

Materials: warp — 100% wool, weft — linen sewing thread.

Technique: threaded-in / kivrim, 10 tablets.

Creation dates: July 2003 and July 2004.

Pattern for single kivrim and some other variations can be found in Workshop’s pattern library.
