What’s in the box?

Inside this compact box, you’ll find everything you need to weave two matching wristbands:

  • 12 weaving tablets – made from durable coated cardboard;
  • cotton warp threads already threaded in the tablets – 1.5 metres long;
  • cotton weft thread – 5 metres long, wound onto a cardboard bobbin;
  • handy accessories:
    • 3 wooden rings (2+1) that warp threads are attached to;
    • ribbons in three different colours;
    • 1 bamboo pick;
    • 2 buttons (choose your favourites before adding to the cart);
    • basic weaving guide and a link to step-by-step guide online.

The width of the bands will be approximately 1-1,2 cm, length of each band up to 25 cm – the choice is yours!

All you need is a little patience, a dash of curiosity, and the excitement of seeing your woven design take shape! Once you get into the rhythm, tablet weaving becomes a relaxing, almost meditative craft – perfect for unwinding and enjoying the moment.

Pattern

The pattern for the wristbands is double-sided and originates from a traditional Estonian folk belt in the collection of the Estonian National Museum. You can find photos and descriptions of the original belt in the Estonian Museum Information System (MUIS). The belt comes from a southern part of Estonia called Tartumaa, and the pattern’s name, Dorpat, is inspired by the historical German name for Tartu.

Care instructions

We use only high-quality, natural materials for our products. Soft 100% cotton crochet thread is used for the Dorpat weaving set. If needed, handwash the woven wristbands in cold water with a mild detergent.
